Welcome

The Department of Aesthetics was established at Eötvös Loránd University in 1973. The first Head of Department was Dénes Zoltai, the second was Miklós Almási (1978-1997), and the third has been Béla Bacsó (since 1997).

The Department of Aeshtetics has been transformed into the Institute for Theory of Art and Media Studies in 2000. The Institute offers degree courses in Aesthetics, Media Studies and Film Studies.

Our Professors in Aesthetics were or have been: Miklós Almási, MHAS (1932-); Béla Bacsó (1952-); Péter Balassa (1947-2003); Ágnes Heller, MHAS (1929-); János Maróthy (1925-2001); György Poszler, MHAS (1931-); Sándor Radnóti (1946-); Dénes Zoltai (1928-).
