| THE CABINET
In March 2001 the Kierkegaard Cabinet
opened at the Budapest University Eötvös Loránd, hosted
by the Institute of Aesthetics. The resource center functions as an independent
foundation, with the mandate to support Kierkegaard scholarship in Hungary
and in the Central Eastern European region, to assist in the translation
of the Danish philosopher’s works into Hungarian and in scholarly research
focusing on him. The “heart” of the Cabinet is a special library and an
electronic data-base that provides contacts to other resource and research
centers in the world.
The Kierkegaard Cabinet provides
information about conferences, scholarships, translation seminars and has
established contacts with the most important institutions: with the Søren
Kierkegaard Research Centre at Copenhagen University and with the Hong
Kierkegaard Library in Northfield, Minnesota (USA). Information about recent
publications, translations and about more important studies is also available
at the Cabinet.
The collection and facilities of
the Cabinet is unique in Hungary as well as in the larger region, so it
welcomes scholars, students, researchers from Central and Eastern Europe.
